Volunteers Needs & News
Volunteers make great things possible!
NEEDS:

Clerical/Office Assistant
Weekdays for a couple of hours each week
Return phone calls, copy and mail reservation forms, data entry, filing, maybe organizing files. Office experience helpful. Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Publisher helpful, too.

Website Proofreader
Your own hours from your home
Proofread the EMNC website and correct grammar and typos. Volunteer must be able to work in HTML, be able to upload corrected files, and have a good command of the English Language.

Meeter/Greeter
Weekends for four-hour shifts:
Sat. 9 AM to 1 PM; 1 to 5 PM & Sun. 15 PM

Open the lodge to visitors, handout trail maps, answer the phones, register people for programs, sell stewardships and gift shop items. Reliable people with a friendly smile are needed.

Trail Maintenance
Anytime, on your own or on scheduled work days
Cut back overgrown vegetation, remove fallen branches, create and maintain erosion controls as needed.

Presentation Host/Hostess
Evenings & Weekends at various times
Greet and check-in program participants, assist presenter (if needed), collect registration fees, and take stewardships during programs. This easy tasks makes life much easier for the presenters. The list of presentations are on the calendar of events page and in the newsletter. Reliable people with a friendly smile are needed.

Committee members to plan and create exhibits for the nature lodge (exhibit committee), to develop program ideas, identify and contact possible presenters, and set the public program schedule for the upcoming months (program committee).

Invasive Plant Eliminators remove garlic mustard and other invasive plants from select areas anytime the ground is thawed.

Volunteer Recognition Celebration
Sunday, October 21, 2007
During Pumpkin Fest a special recognition ceremony was held to thank all EMNC volunteers for their time and talents. Three volunteers who have worked over 100 hours each were recognized.

Stephanie Purdy for feeding and caring for the raptors, every week.

Ray Massacesi for keeping the feeders filled, many maintenance projects, photography, bluebird house building and maintenance, and keeping an eye on the Lodge.

An third volunteer was thanked by the board privately as he preferred to remain anonymous. This volunteer insure the trails are in tip top condition, easy to follow, and well mapped.

Every bit of time and talent make the Nature Center possible, so everyone of the volunteers are priceless!
