Endless Mountains Nature Center - Scouting & Group Programs
Your scouts can learn about nature, earn an award or badge, and have fun during our hands-on environmental education programs or guided nature hikes.
Most nature related and earth science badges can be completed or partially accomplished at the EMNC. Specific badge and patch requirements can be reviewed by the educators with you. Contact Rebecca Lesko at 570-836-3835 or EMNCinfo@yahoo.com for questions or to schedule a program.
Badge & Patch Achievement
We can assist all levels of Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in earning many of nature, wildlife, conservation, outdoor, environment, or science-related badges. Brownie Try-its usually take a minimum of one and a half hours to complete. EMNC has many of the requirements on file and will consider any you have need.
Nature Hikes
Take a walk with an environmental education specialist to search for animal signs or study seasonal changes or have a scavenger hunt or watch for eagles and ducks at the river or hunt for insects.
Orienteering
Learn to navigate with a map and the surrounding landmarks, and learn why this sport is getting very popular. Compass activities can be added. Recommended for 5th grade through adults. Minimum 1.5 hours.
Campfires
Roast marshmallows, sip hot chocolate, listen to stories, learn about seasonal events, and/or sing songs around the campfire.Minimum age for attendance is 6 years old, including siblings.
Night Hikes
Develop your night vision, play games, and listen for animals during a night hike. Stars, bats, frogs, and insects are just a few of the things you may encounter at night.
Special Presentations for Large Groups
"Raptors Rule"
Your group can see live raptors up close and personal. Nothing thrills people more than live animals; they won't realize how much they’ll learn about the hawks, owls, and falcons of PA!
Native American Stories
First grade-adult
Storyteller, Rebecca Lesko brings traditional Native American animal stories to life through her animated telling. How stories are traditional used for teaching and entertaining are also discussed. Each story is credited to the nation from which it originated, if known.
